Our Story

The Lundgaard family purchased Darling Downs Brick Sales on 1 May 1984. The retail store then based at Sowden Street, Toowoomba sold bricks, blocks and pavers to customers mainly in Toowoomba and surrounding towns.

Bricks, blocks and pavers are heavy! Ivar Lundgaard, Managing Director being passionate about providing customers with excellent customer service then founded Dantrans Pty Ltd a purpose built trucking company in 1984, to provide reliable delivery of products to customers.

In 1993 due to needing more space, the business moved to a new retail store and display yard at 23 Rocla Court, Toowoomba.

Darling Downs Brick Sales was inducted into the Business Hall of Fame at the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce, Business Excellence Awards in 2008.

From 1 July 2019, Darling Downs Brick Sales moved to a brand new store and display at 19 Markelee Street, Toowoomba to provide a better customer experience. This move has had very positive feedback from customers todate.

Darling Downs Brick Sales – Today

Ivar Lundgaard remains as Managing Director/Owner of Darling Downs Brick Sales. In 2010, Kim Lundgaard, Ivar’s wife joined the family business as General Manager.

DDBS is an established and trusted retailer of bricks, blocks, pavers and landscaping products. We sell a wide range of products including bricks, grey blocks, pavers, retaining walls, concrete sleepers, pier caps, pebbles, stone cladding, cement, soil, gravel, landscaping supplies, cleaners and sealers.

We sell a products from industry leading manufacturers including NV Bricks, PGH Bricks & Pavers, Selkirk Bricks, Midland Bricks, Stoneworks, National Masonry, Adbri, Kashmiri Pebbles, Cement Australia, Austral Bricks, Austral Masonry, QPro, Environex Stonecare and Safetec Solutions. We also sell products which are hand made by experienced Craftspeople at Edenstone, Warwick Brick Works and Chelmstone.

DDBS has a store and large outdoor displays. We also have brick displays.

The DDBS team delivers first rate service as we are passionate about assisting customers to create their dream home, backyard or outdoor space. We provide product advice, personal appointments, brick samples, brick matching and delivery.
